Unarmed Plainclothes Security Officers are frequently hired to control access, manage crowds, and deter thieves. An unarmed security officer performs roles across private security.
Unarmed means an officer does not possess the additional authorization to carry a firearm in the line of duty.
Although unarmed means officers do not carry firearms, it does not mean they are unequipped. Many security officers can carry flashlights, radios, body cams, etc.
Typical Duties
Security Officer duties vary significantly from site to site. Whether at a set post or on a mobile patrol or a foot patrol, an officer must remain alert and aware of what is always going on around them. Patrols not only keep officers aware of what’s happening on site, but potential criminals know they are being watched. To keep people guessing where an officer will be at any given time, Sheepdog Patrol officers will use random patrol techniques which makes all patrols more effective.
